Lee County Economic Development Group Looks to Future

Lee County Economic Development Group

The Lee County Economic Development Group is preparing for the future with some help from local businesses.

The organization has been planning a capital campaign for several years.
This week, it will unveil "Lee County 2018."

The money raised will be used to help existing businesses and to develop a workforce that meets the needs of local industries.

Marketing Coordinator Dana Klesner says the private sector is invited to partner with the group.

“We are helping Lee County propel into the future and become economically viable."

LCEDG was solely funded by the Board of Supervisors at first, but the county has gradually reduced its contribution in an effort to create more of a public-private partnership.

LCEDG will also be asking cities like Keokuk and Fort Madison for support.

A "kick-off breakfast" for the Lee County 2018 campaign will be held at 7:30 Thursday morning at the Comfort Inn and Suites in Fort Madison.
