West Prairie Starts School Year With New Roof

TSPR's Rich Egger

West Prairie High School students will be learning under a new roof when classes start Wednesday.

The roof’s construction took most of the summer.

School Superintendent Jonathan Heerboth said there were several delays when contractors had to wait on supply shipments.

“It’s taken longer than we hoped to get through the project," Heerboth said. "But if they are done before school starts then I’m happy with that.”

Heerboth said he’s looking forward to not putting out buckets to collect water every time it rains. The new roof replaces one that was put up in the mid 1980's.

The total cost for the project was a little more than $479,000 which was within budget. The school sold life-safety bonds to pay for it.
