Warsaw Mayor Resigns

Warsaw Mayor Tiffany Murphy stepped down this week, less than two years into her first term in office.

Murphy made her decision official with a one-sentence letter.  She stated that her resignation was effective Tues., Oct. 7, but it did not provide a reason for her departure.

She was not available for comment.

The Warsaw City Council will hold a special meeting Thurs., Oct. 9.

At that time, aldermen are expected to accept Murphy's resignation and appoint an acting mayor.

The acting mayor would serve until the April 2015 election.
