Early Voting Open for Burlington Election

Early voting is underway for Burlington's special city council election on Tuesday, Dec. 30.

Former mayors Jim Davidson and John Sandell will square off after being the top finishers in the Dec. 2 primary.

Burlington's mayor comes from within the city council, so both men are quite familiar with city government and the work of the city council.

The winner will replace Becky Shockley, who resigned less than a year into her first term in office.

Burlington residents can request an absentee ballot or they can vote in the Des Moines County Auditor's Office during regular business hours.

A forum, sponsored by the Greater Burlington Partnership, is scheduled for Thurs., Dec. 18 at 5:00 P.M. at City Hall.
