Arrest Made in McDonough County Mass Shooting Threat

McDonough County Sheriff's Department
Kevin Corridon is accused of threatening to carry out a mass shooting in McDonough County.

Police said they took Kevin Corridon, 26, of 116 North Side Square in Macomb into custody without incident Wednesday morning.  He is charged with Felony Disorderly Conduct.

Sheriff Rick VanBrooker said the FBI contacted local law enforcement authorities around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday. The FBI said it received information through its tip line about a threat of a mass shooting that was to occur in McDonough County on Wednesday.  The threat did not target a specific institution.

VanBrooker said Corridon was arrested at his home three hours later. No weapons were found at his home.

VanBrooker believes the threat did not pose a significant danger to the public.

“After everything was taken into account, it was considered a low level threat. Now, throughout the day, had that level risen, we would have notified the public.  But fortunately the person that we believe is responsible was arrested,” VanBrooker said.

“It came to a very fast conclusion.”

He said the investigation is continuing and more charges might be filed.
