New Job for Keokuk School Superintendent

It appears Superintendent Tim Hood is poised to leave the Keokuk School District for a new job in southwest Iowa. But that new job is contingent upon his release from his current contract.

The Sidney and South Page Boards of Education voted Tuesday night to offer their shared superintendent position to Hood. The two-year contract would pay Hood $155,000/year.

Hood still has one year remaining on his contract in Keokuk. So it would be up to the Keokuk School Board to release him from that final year and allow him to take the Sidney/South Page job.

Keokuk School Board President Janne Long told Tri States Public Radio that she knew Hood was interviewing for the job. Long said she learned through social media that Hood was offered the job.

Long said she has not yet spoken to Hood about his new job. Hood has not returned a call from Tri States Public Radio seeking comment.

Hood is quoted on the website for a radio station in southwest Iowa as saying he felt really comfortable with the staff and that he felt Sidney/South Page was a good all-around fit.

His first day would be July 1, 2017.

Hood has been with the Keokuk School District for more than four years.

The Keokuk School Board is not scheduled to meet until May 15.
