Great River Health Systems (GRHS) will open its new health care clinic to patients on Monday, Dec. 3. The West Burlington-based health care provider offered a sneak peek to the community this week.
More than 50 people turned out for a ribbon-cutting Wednesday night, with many more showing up for an open house that followed.
The nearly $7 million clinic is located off Main Street, next to the Hampton Inn. GRHS purchased three acres of land from the city for $250,000 in late 2017.
The clinic features 23 exam rooms and three rooms for medical procedures as well as meeting rooms and space for educational programs. It replaces a smaller clinic GRHS operated in Keokuk for nearly a decade.
CEO Matt Wenzel said following the ribbon-cutting that this is an exciting opportunity for GRHS and its patients. He said the new clinic will provide urgent care, primary care, and rehabilitative services.
“We will also have a multi-specialty clinic with physicians who will be coming down, meeting patients in their local communities to help save some time so they don’t have to drive to Burlington,” said Wenzel.
GRHS said the specialty services include 3-D mammography, bone-density scanning, podiatry, urology, gastroenterology, and cardiology.
The urgent care service will be offered 7:00 a.m. – 7:00.p.m. Monday-Friday and 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
GRHS said 20 people will work at the new clinic, which is double the number who were working at the former clinic, which closed its doors this week.
