Public Input Being Accepted on Judicial Hopefuls

The Hancock County Courthouse in Carthage. The county is part of the Ninth Judicial Circuit.

Six attorneys have applied to be the next judge in west central Illinois' Ninth Judicial Circuit.  The person chosen will replace Paul Mangieri, who has announced he will retire July 3, 2019.

The circuit includes Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren Counties.

The applicants are:

  • Liz Duvall of Macomb
  • Patrick Egan of Galesburg
  • Andrewe Johnson of Canton
  • Douglas Lindstrom of Galesburg
  • Scott McClintock of Monmouth
  • Emily Sutton of Macomb

The Illinois Supreme Court will accept public comments in writing until noon on Wednesday, June 13, 2019.  Remarks can be sent to:

The comments should include contact information, and the Supreme Court is asking that the comments be brief (preferably no more than 250 words).

In the meantime, background checks will be conducted on the applicants, and Supreme Court Justice Thomas Kilbride will survey attorneys in the Ninth Judicial Circuit to gather their input.
