The Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS) said a Fort Madison police officer shot and killed a suspect while responding to a call of a person armed with a handgun at a local manufacturing warehouse.
The suspect died at Fort Madison Community Hospital. The person's name has not been released.
The DPS said the officer's name is not being released pending an investigation by its Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI).
The DPS also did not name the business where the shooting happened.
The agency said police were called to the warehouse on Tuesday at 10:56 p.m.
