A New COVID-19 Outbreak in McDonough County

CDC

McDonough County had not reported many new cases of COVID-19 in recent weeks.  But that changed Monday (July 13).

The McDonough County Health Department said there is an outbreak at Wesley Christian Child Development Center in Macomb.

The department said contact tracing is being done to prevent additional transmission of the virus. It did not say how many cases are connected to the center.

In late April and early May, the county reported outbreaks at Heartland Healthcare Center, The Lamoine assisted living facility, Edison Apartments, and at a Mosaic residential facility, all in Macomb.

At that time, the health department said the state defines an outbreak at a facility as one or more confirmed cases plus cases of others there who are ill with symptoms.

The department on Monday also reported three residents tested positive after being at the Gold Hills Golf Club west of Macomb on July 2 and 3.

The agency said that anyone who was there on one or both of those days might want to get tested for the virus.

McDonough District Hospital has a drive-through screening station that is open Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
