A pre-trial conference is scheduled for January 5, 2021 for the Western Illinois University freshman accused of shooting his roommate.
Kavion Poplous, 18, remains in jail on $1 million bond. He is charged with two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, one count of Aggravated Battery, and one count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm.
He has pleaded not guilty. He has asked for a jury trial.
Poplous is accused of shooting Amarion Hargrove several times in Thompson Hall on September 15, 2020 in what investigators have called a roommate dispute.
Poplous turned himself in to police in Chicago the day after the shooting.
Hargrove is recovering from his injuries.
