Some counties are releasing more information about COVID-19 vaccination schedules. And financial assistance is headed to small businesses in a couple communities.
Lee County
The Lee County Health Department said people age 65 and older will now be included in the state’s Phase 1B for COVID-19 vaccinations. The phase will start next month.
The county health department said it already has a list of more than 800 people who have called with contact information and are waiting for an appointment. The department said it will schedule appointments as doses of the vaccine come in. It estimates receiving 200 doses the first week of February.
Knox County
The Knox County Unified Command closed its vaccination clinic Thursday, January 21, after running out of doses by midday.
Vaccinations for Knox County residents age 65 and older will be available again Friday, January 22, on a first come, first served basis. The clinic will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Knox County Farm Bureau, 180 S. Soangetaha Road in Galesburg.
The vaccination is free.
COVID Relief Funds for Businesses
The Galesburg Community Development Office reported 35 businesses will receive grants through the Galesburg COVID-19 Relief Program.
The funding comes from the city and the state. Each contributed $250,000 to the program. The city said the money will be disbursed by the end of the month.
Pandemic relief funding is also headed to 58 small businesses in Macomb.
The city said the funding comes from three state grant programs. A total of $450,000 will be distributed to Macomb businesses.
Schuyler County Outbreaks
The Schuyler County Health Department is reporting COVID-19 outbreaks at two residential facilities.
One is at the Charles Place Apartments in Rushville, where there are seven confirmed cases of the virus. The other is at the Country Gardens Senior Living Community in Rushville. The department said there are three confirmed cases of the virus at that facility.
