McDonough County Manufacturers Looking to Hire

Rich Egger

Pella, NTN Bower, Vaughn Manufacturing, and Yetter Manufacturing are all in a hiring mode right now. That is according to Kim Pierce, Executive Director of the Macomb Area Economic Development Corporation (MAEDCO).

“Good jobs. They’ve tried to incentivize where they can and they’ve got benefit packages for fulltime employees and a good starting wage,” Pierce said.

“If you’re looking for a job, they are there – not only in manufacturing but also in our retail sector and our fast food (sector).”

She said Yetter will hold a job fair this Thursday, July 29, and Pella is holding open interviews every Wednesday from 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

Pella is moving production of its Architect Series wood frame windows from Macomb to Shenandoah, Iowa. Pierce said the Macomb plant has been transitioning into producing vinyl frame windows and is still adding jobs.

“When (Pella) came to Macomb, their target number for us, and what we planned and incentivized on, was for 400 jobs. Fast forward to today, there are over 550 jobs and they’re still hiring,” Pierce said, adding Pella is also in the process of making capital improvements at the Macomb plant.

Pella built the Macomb factory in 2005 on the east edge of town.
