Arrest in Ft. Madison Shooting Death; Investigation Continues in Rushville Death
Police arrested a southeast Iowa teenager in the shooting death of another teen this week.
Dimari D. J. Meredith, 17, of Fort Madison is charged with Murder in the First Degree.
Police said they were called to the 4200 block of Avenue L shortly after 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. They found a 15-year old boy suffering from a single gunshot wound.
The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Meredith was detained at the scene and later transferred to the Lee County Juvenile Detention Center.
Police said they recovered a weapon and other evidence from the home.
Body Found in Rushville
Illinois State Police (ISP) are investigating the death of a woman in Rushville.
Police said the body of Denise Phillips, 51, was found in the 400 block of West Clinton Street on Monday.
ISP said the Schuyler County Coroner’s office will release details on the cause of death once an autopsy and a toxicology report are completed.
