Community transmission of Covid-19 "remains high"

The McDonough and Schuyler County Health Department said the level of community transmission of Covid-19 remains high. The agency urged everyone to follow safety guidelines.

Those guidelines include the indoor mask mandate that remains in effect in Illinois. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated people should be wearing masks in all indoor public spaces.

The department said those with symptoms should get tested immediately.

153 new cases of the virus were reported in McDonough County from December 2-9.

The health department blamed the virus for three deaths during that time. One was a woman in her 70s, one a woman in her 80s, and the other was a woman in her 90s.

44.49% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.

In Schuyler County, 18 news cases of the virus were reported from December 2-9. No deaths reported for the past week.

45.6% of Schuyler County residents are fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
