OSF HealthCare announced Monday it has signed an exclusive letter of intent to purchase real estate, equipment, and other assets of Galesburg’s Cottage Hospital.
Cottage Hospital suspended operations on Jan. 8, days before it was set to lose Medicare and Medicaid funding due to numerous violations.
OSF HealthCare does not intend to offer inpatient services at the Cottage Hospital location, according to a news release.
OSF officials said St. Mary Medical Center in Galesburg has the capacity to provide inpatient care in the community.
“OSF recognizes that change is never easy but anticipates this will best serve the healthcare needs for Galesburg and the surrounding areas going forward,” the release stated.
OSF also said there would be no additional information or comment available on the pending purchase at this time.
