Meth arrests in McDonough County

Two men were booked on meth charges and for resisting arrest this month in separate incidents in rural McDonough County.

On July 10, a McDonough County Sheriff’s deputy attempted a traffic stop on a motorcycle entering Good Hope from the north at a high rate of speed.

The driver stopped long enough for the deputy to exit the vehicle and then sped off at more than 80 miles per hour.

David Gordon, 41, of East Moline was apprehended after a short pursuit and foot chase. He was arrested for aggravated fleeing, aggravated driving on a suspended license, speeding, resisting arrest, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Earlier this month, a deputy pulled over a vehicle in Tennessee, Illinois, because the owner was wanted on a Hancock County warrant for meth possession.

Steven Haskins, 57, of Colchester fled the traffic stop on foot and reportedly tossed a bag containing narcotics during a brief pursuit.

Once caught, Haskins resisted the deputy and a TASER was deployed.

Haskins was treated at the scene by the Colchester fire department and booked on charges of resisting arrest, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was also lodged on the Hancock County warrant.
