Five people are running for three open seats on the Galesburg District 205 school board this year.
Incumbents Tianna Cervantez and Courtney Rodriguez are running for reelection for seats within Galesburg Township and are facing challenger Jake Taylor.
Incumbent Rodney Phelps is running for reelection for his seat representing townships outside of Galesburg and facing challenger David Sharp.
All the candidates except Taylor participated in forum hosted by NAACP Galesburg, Galesburg P-FLAG and United Against Hate at the Galesburg Public Library.
The forum was moderated by David Amor, emeritus instructor of journalism at Knox College.
Candidates answered questions on topics from book banning to the top concerns in Galesburg schools.
