Sexual assault case continued for martial arts instructor

The court case has been continued for an area martial arts instructor facing sex charges.

Beau Admire, 42, of Galesburg faces two counts of criminal sexual assault of a minor and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in Warren County, for incidents that occurred in Monmouth.

Admire owned Badger Combatives of Galesburg. He was arrested on a warrant last fall and released on bond.

He has requested a speedy trial and will appear in court again on May 17.

Body found on school grounds

The body of a middle-aged white male was found on the grounds of the Mediapolis Community School.

The Des Moines County’s Sheriff’s Office responded to the school grounds late in the morning on March 13.

A sheriff’s deputy who is also the school’s resource officer was already on scene.

Authorities say there is no active threat to the school and the investigation is ongoing.

Vehicle stolen in Macomb stopped in Warren County

An Indiana man who stole a vehicle in Macomb on March 14 was stopped without incident on U.S. Route 34.

Warren County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Harlan Genus, 22, of Munster between Galesburg and Monmouth. He was taken to the Warren County jail.

Munster is charged with unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle. He reportedly stole the vehicle while it was running and unattended.

The sheriff’s office said it is not advisable to leave a running vehicle unattended.

FOP honors those helping Rushville officer

The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police recognized several businesses and individuals that have helped a Rushville police officer who’s battling cancer.

Officer Nathan Rauch is receiving intense treatment for T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

Those thanked for their assistance are Drawve Furniture in Rushville; The Lipsticked Pig in Rushville; and Cedar Creek Kennels in Monmouth, which has cared for Rauch’s K-9 partner, Cody.

Rushville Police Chief Rick Wright was honored for going “above and beyond the call of duty” to assist Rauch and his family.

Among other things, Wright organized two fundraisers for Rausch so far this year.

Galesburg releases annual report

The city of Galesburg has released its annual report for 2022.

The report highlights projects and achievements by various city departments, including police, fire, parks and recreation, and community development.

It’s available to view on the city’s website. 

Artifact Identification Day at Dickson Mounds

Dickson Mounds Museum in Lewistown will host an Artifact Identification Day on Sunday, March 19, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Admission is free.

Museum archaeologists and other experts will identify Native American artifacts and objects such as fossils, animal bones, and rock specimens.

The event has drawn both mundane and spectacular objects for more than 40 years, according to the Illinois State Museum.

No appraisals will be given.

This will be the first Artifact Identification Day at Dickson Mounds since March 2020.
