Lovato court case continued

There has been another continuation in the court case for the man accused of the fatal shooting in Macomb in March 2022.

Dylan Lovato, 24, of Beach Park is scheduled to appear in court again on May 9.

Lovato is accused driving to Macomb in the middle of the night from his home in northern Illinois and shooting Ivan Almanza in the head while Almanza slept at the apartment of Lovato’s ex-girlfriend.

Lovato is charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Fulton County man charged with child porn

Jonathan E. Allard, 24, of Canton faces felony charges of Production of Child Pornography and Possession of Child Pornography.

Illinois State Police said the investigation began in January, 2022 after they learned of someone in possession of child pornography through an online platform.

State police said they gained access to digital evidence through an advancement in technology, which led to the discovery of child pornography in February, 2023.

The Fulton County State’s Attorney’s office filed the charges against Allard on Tuesday, March 28. He was taken into custody the next day.

Allard’s bond is $100,000.

OSF named innovative company

Fortune magazine has named OSF HealthCare one of the 300 most innovative companies for 2023.

OSF the only Illinois-based healthcare system on the list.

The distinction is based on online surveys and input from experts in various fields.

OSF said some of its recent innovations include expanding remote monitoring of patients and using 3D printing and virtual reality in surgeries.

Sandburg awards contracts for new building

The Carl Sandburg College board of trustees has awarded $2.8 million dollars in contracts for the construction of a new Science and Technology Center.

River City Construction is the construction manager for the project. Contracts were awarded to East Moline Glass, Flooring Systems, and Vogue Painting.

The college plans to break ground on the building soon.

It will be the first new construction on the main campus since 2006 and the largest project since the campus was built in 1969.

Increased patrols for distracted driving

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month.

The Galesburg Police Department is partnering with the Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois State Police, and other law enforcement agencies to step up enforcement efforts.

Motorists can expect increased patrols and enforcement zones throughout the month.

Using your phone in anything other than hands-free mode while driving is illegal in Illinois. Authorities say it’s also dangerous.

The enforcement effort is funded by federal traffic safety funds.
