Demond Wilson, Jr., 25, of Calumet Park is now charged with three counts of first degree murder for the March 25 shooting at a Macomb house party.

Wilson is also charged with three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm.

He pleaded not guilty and asked for a jury trial.

He was already being held on $750,000 bond on a charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm.

At a preliminary hearing Monday afternoon at the McDonough County courthouse, First Assistant State’s Attorney Susan Maxwell asked Judge Nigel Graham to increase bond to $2 million.

Defense attorney Scott McClintock of McClintock Law in Monmouth said he needed more time to review details. Graham granted his request and scheduled the bond hearing for Wednesday afternoon.

Wilson is accused in the shooting death of Jerman Beathea, 26, of Chicago. Beathea was pronounced dead at the scene at 533 N. Johnson St. in the early morning hours of March 25.

Ten other people were wounded. Wilson was among those wounded.

During the hearing, Detective Jordan Hawes said two eyewitnesses identified Wilson as the person who pulled out a gun and fired it into the crowd following an argument.

The detective also said the weapon used in the shooting -- a Glock 19 9mm firearm -- was found in the home’s kitchen under the stove.

Hawes said Wilson purchased the gun. He had a valid FOID card and a valid conceal/carry license.

Hawes testified that 13 casings were recovered from the scene along with 10 projectiles. All were traced back to the Glock.

In addition, he said the autopsy found Beathea died from gunshot wounds and that three projectiles – all from the Glock – were found in his body.
