A months-long investigation by area law enforcement and an FBI task force resulted in the arrest of five people on drug and firearm charges.
Agents from the FBI’s Transnational Organized Crime West Task Force executed search warrants Wednesday at 57 S. Whitesboro St. in Galesburg and 218 W. First Ave. in Monmouth.
According to a release from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, agents found six firearms, cash, psilocybin mushrooms, more than 1,000 grams of methamphetamine, and a large amount of cannabis.
Arrested were Juan Garcia, Jordan Hess, Jena Hess and Treyshawn McLaren of Galesburg and Shiloh Bates of Monmouth.
Authorities said the joint investigation revealed the suspects had illegal firearms and were distributing large quantities of meth and cocaine in Knox and Warren counties.
Law enforcement and state’s attorneys in both counties assisted with the operation.
Additional arrests and federal indictments are expected.
