SummerStage performances of School of Rock will be held this weekend in the Hainline Theatre at Western Illinois University.

“We’ve been working really hard and having a lot of fun in producing this show,” said Director Carolyn Blackinton. “It’s a rock musical with children in it, so it’s very family friendly.”

Three performances are scheduled:

  • Friday, July 14, 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 15, 2:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 15, 7:30 p.m.

General admission tickets are $20. Tickets for kids and senior citizens are $15. They can be purchased online, at the Hainline Theatre Box Office, or by calling (309) 298-2900.

In addition, the show’s performers will be featured Wednesday, July 12, at noon in Chandler Park in downtown Macomb. That event is free. It’s part of the city’s Downtown Summer Concert Series.

Chad Fess is the production’s guest artist and will play the lead role of Dewey Finn. He said the large cast includes community members.

“I think it’s brilliant because that reflects the true art form of theater, which is bringing communities together and kind of getting this cathartic, human, healing thing happening,” he said.
