A Macomb man who died after an altercation in the McDonough County jail has been identified.
The altercation happened around 1:50 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8.
Darrell Hocker, 51, of Macomb was taken to McDonough District Hospital, where he died later that morning.
Hocker was arrested last month on domestic battery charges.
A petition to detain Hocker under the SAFE-T Act was granted, so he remained in custody following his arrest, according to online court records.
Illinois State Police are investigating and have released neither the name of the other inmate in the altercation nor Hocker’s cause of death.
