Macomb man accused in child pornography case

Authorities arrested a Macomb man following an investigation into child pornography.

The Illinois Attorney General’s office said Christopher Fugate, 38, is charged with five counts of dissemination of child pornography and ten counts of possessing child pornography.

Fugate was taken into custody at his home in the 800 block of North Randolph Street on Feb. 7 by investigators from the Illinois attorney general’s office, the Macomb Police Department, the McDonough County Sheriff’s Department, and Illinois State Police.

Fugate pleaded not guilty during a court appearance in Macomb on Feb. 14 and requested a jury trial.

A pretrial hearing is scheduled for late March.

McDonough County State’s Attorney Matt Kwacala’s office is prosecuting the case along with Assistant Attorney General Katherine Hegarty from the attorney general’s High Tech Crimes Bureau.
