The Rushville tragedy: How you can help

Schuyler-Industry schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday after a school bus collided with a semi-truck late Monday morning on U.S. Route 24 in Rushville, leaving five people dead.

Those killed in the crash were the semi-truck driver, David Coufal, 72, of Browning; the bus driver, Angela Spiker, 57, of Rushville; and the three children on the school bus at the time of the crash, Maria Miller, 5, Andrew Miller, 3, and Noah Driscoll, 3, all of Rushville.

Though Schuyler-Industry schools are closed, the district said all school buildings are open with counselors and support staff available for those in need.

  • Rushville City Hall, 111 E. Washington St.,, is also accepting monetary donations for the families between the hours of 8:30-4:30 Monday-Friday.
  • Life Family Church of Virginia, Ill., is collecting funds for the Miller family. Please designate “Miller Family” in the comments at this link so the funds can be distributed accordingly.
