The Rialto's marquee was updated Thursday afternoon, May 2.

Macomb’s movie theater is back in business.

The city shut down the Rialto Cinemas in January because of multiple leaks in the roof. Water got into the electrical panels, creating a significant safety issue for customers and staff.

VIP Cinema Group, which owns the theater, has made repairs, and the building passed inspections by the health department, fire department, and city code enforcement officers. Those inspections were finalized Thursday afternoon.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, May 3.
