Miranda Lambert is Macomb's new Community Development Coordinator.

Macomb has a new Community Development Coordinator, though the previous person with the job has not left entirely.

The position is now filled by Miranda Lambert, who had served as Transit Director.

To make the transition go smoothly, previous CDC John Bannon will be paid an hourly rate to assist Lambert as needed for up to six months.

City Administrator Scott Coker said Bannon had a lot of ongoing projects.

“Several grant items that he’s been working on, there’s a lot of tight deadlines that we could use some help with, and Miranda has requested this,” Coker told the city council during its May 6 meeting.

Bannon has not left Macomb. He took a job as Local Food Program Coordinator for the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs at Western Illinois University.

City council members approved the agreement with Bannon this week.

They also agreed to appoint Andrew Erwin as Interim Transit Director.

He had already been with McDonough County Public Transportation, and he’ll be able to reach out to Lambert if he has any questions in his new role.
