Wrecking ball coming to more rundown homes in Macomb

The Macomb City Council this week agreed to seek bids to demolish up to 21 dilapidated houses.

The program is being paid for entirely with grant funding through the Strong Communities Program.

The sites targeted for demolition are:

  • 407 W. Orchard
  • 126 W. Calhoun
  • 712 N. Lafayette
  • 613 W. Jefferson
  • 732 W. Piper
  • 732 ½ W. Carroll
  • 119 N. Campbell
  • 1632 E. Wheeler
  • 1208 E. Adams
  • 202 W. Carroll
  • 1020 E. Carroll
  • 514 W. Carroll
  • 616 E. Wheeler
  • 463 N. Madison
  • 303 W. Kelly
  • 626 W. Chandler
  • 1225 E. Pierce
  • 302 E. Carroll
  • 310 E. Carroll
  • 324 E. Carroll
  • 326 E. Carroll

The goal is to complete all of the demolition projects before this winter.

The city council also agreed to purchase three properties for renovations and resale. Those are also being paid for with funding from the Strong Communities Program.

Those sites are 1331 E. Pierce, 417 W. Wheeler, and 421 E. Jefferson.
