Macomb, IL – Residents of Macomb School District 185 are being asked to help determine what characteristics are most desired in a new superintendent. Surveys were distributed at a public forum Tuesday night that will help search firm Ray & Associates choose the best fit for the district. Surveys can still be obtained at the high school office. They need to be faxed back to the search firm by September 7. That input will be used when the firm meets with the school board on September 12 to decide on the 10 most important characteristics for the new superintendent. Tuesday night's forum drew about three dozen people. An issue that came up several times during the meeting is the proposed pay for the job. Superintendent Fran Karanovich earns $140,000 per year. The search firm recommends her replacement be paid $170,000. The firm says quality will cost money because it's a superintendent's market right now.
