Macomb, IL – Illinois School Districts are bracing themselves for the possibility that June's general state aid payments will be late. In years past, the state has delayed the final two payments, pushing them back to the next fiscal year.
Schuyler-Industry Superintendent Mathew Plater says he won't believe the payments will be made on time this year until he actually sees the money in the district's account. Plater says the district has its money direct deposited, but he suspects if payments are made, it will be on the last hour of the last minute of the last day in June.
Plater says if school districts do not receive the money on time, it will create a bookkeeping nightmare. Plater says if the final two payments are not released the district would lose $500,000.00. On top of that, the district is waiting on the final transportation
reimbursement payment, which is $125,000.00.
