Keokuk Hires Director of Public Works & Engineering

Keokuk, IA – Keokuk has a new director of public works and engineering.

The city council appointed Gerald Moughler to the post during Thursday night's special meeting.

His first day on the job will be Monday, August 18.

Moughler's starting salary will be $70,000 (plus benefits, use of city car, and lap-top computer).

The city received about a half-dozen applications for the post.

Mayor Dave Gudgel says none of the potential candidates met the qualification and experience requirements the city was looking for.

He says that prompted him to ask Moughler, a certified engineer, to apply.

The city eliminated the post of public works director after Bill Richards retired about 14 months ago.

The position was restored, though, earlier this year, upon the recommendation of former City Administrator Odis Jones.
