Schilling : Desire Still There To Repeal Health Care

Quincy, IL – The focus, of late, in Washington D.C. has been on the economy, job creation and the work of the so-called Super Committee.

On top of that, we are entering a presidential election cycle.

That prompted a constituent to ask Congressman Bobby Schilling (R-IL17), during a recent even in Quincy, if the desire is still there to repeal the new federal health care law.

Schilling says, without a doubt, the desire is still there.

"There are almost 2,000 folks who have been given the option of not being in," says Schilling, "if it were truly good for America and companies, everybody would want to opt in and there would be no opt-out options."

The Congressman says a repeal hinges on next year's election.

He says if Republicans keep the House and take control of the Senate and the White House, one of the first actions taken by Congress will be to repeal the law.

Schilling says, in the meantime, Congress should look at tort reform.

He says preventing what he calls frivolous lawsuits from advancing would reduce the cost of health care.

Schilling says that could begin with forcing the person who brings such a lawsuit up to pay attorney fees if it is thrown out.
