It will be more than a year before a civil lawsuit involving the Keokuk School District goes to trial.
District Court Judge Evelyn Thomann has set the date for Monday, September 9, 2014 with a pre-trial conference scheduled for one month prior.
The lawsuit was filed earilier this year by an anonymous former student against the district, former coach and teacher Gina Sisk and former high school principal Michelle Lukavsky.
The student, identified in court documents as Jane Doe II, says she was sexually abused by Sisk, several years ago, while Sisk was employed by the district.
Sisk has since offered her resignation, which has been accepted by the Keokuk School Board.
A similar lawsuit against her in Henry County, IA is being reviewed by the Iowa Supreme Court. It's unclear when the high court could offer its opinion.
PROTECTIVE ORDER
Meanwhile, another hearing related to the lawsuit has been delayed.
Jane Doe II's attorney, Roxanne Conlin, is seeking any documents or records related to sex crimes investigations regarding Sisk by the Keokuk Police Department.
Lee County Attorney Mike Short tried to block the release by filing a motion for a protective order.
He says the documents should remain private because the case could still be re-opened.
Court document show the hearing on the protective order was continuted because it was expected to last longer than the alloted 15-minutes on Monday, June 17.
A new date for the hearing has not been set at this time.
