Governor Jay Nixon (D-MO) has appointed Sharon Biggerstaff of Kahoka as the new Clark County Circuit Clerk.
She replaces Mary Jones, who resigned in July amidst an investigation into possible financial improprieties within her office.
The Missouri State Auditor's Office is more than two months into its audit of the office, which follows an anonymous complaint about Jones' office.
Gov. Nixon says he is confident Biggerstaff will capably serve the people of Clark COunty.
She has worked in the Missouri Office of Prosecution Services for nearly 20 years.
She also served on the Clark County R-1 School Board in the past.
