Auditions for Missoula Children's Theatre production of Rapunzel

CONTACT: Larissa McShane, Executive Director, 217-357-9479

There will be open auditions on Monday, July 27th, beginning at 10:00 AM at The Legacy Theatre in Carthage for the upcoming production of Missoula Children’s Theatre’s Rapunzel. There are roles for youth and those young at heart, ages 5 – 105!! 50-60 local performers will be cast for the show. Up to 4 youth will be cast as Assistant Directors. There is no guarantee that everyone who auditions will be cast in the play. Those wishing to audition must arrive by the scheduled starting time and stay for the entire two-hour session. This is a group audition–no preparation is necessary; all are invited to just come and have a good time! The first rehearsal begins approximately 15 minutes after the audition. Rehearsals will be conducted daily from July 27th through 31st, from 10:00 AM to 2:30 PM, at Legacy Theatre, with one 30-minute break. Although not all cast members will be needed at every session, those auditioning must have a clear schedule for the entire week. If selected, they must be able to attend all rehearsals required for their role and be available for all scheduled performances. A detailed rehearsal schedule will be distributed after the audition. Cast members scheduled for the full 4 hours and 30 minutes will be asked to bring a sack lunch, dinner, or a snack for the 30-minute break between sessions.

The Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT), the nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for more than 50 years now, from Montana to Japan, and will visit nearly 1,000 communities this year with up to 44 teams of Tour Actor/Directors. All MCT shows are original adaptations of classic children’s stories and fairytales… a twist on the classic stories that you know and love.

Creativity, social skills, goal achievement, communication skills, and self-esteem are all characteristics developed through participation in this unique educational project. MCT's mission is to empower children and adults through theatre education and performance, developing lifelong skills while enriching communities worldwide through live productions.

Also included in the residency are three enrichment workshops presented by the Tour Actor/Directors. Theatre Workshops will be held on Tuesday–Thursday, 2:45 – 3:30 PM, at the Legacy Theatre for all interested children. These workshops are not limited to play participants! The performances will take place on Saturday, August 1st, at 12:00 PM & 2:00 PM at the Legacy

Theater. Performance tickets are on sale now at the Legacy box office! www.thelegacytheater.com
