Burlington Lunchtime Chamber Music Series

Jeffrey Phillips is a violinist, teacher, and the Operations Manager of the Southeast Iowa Symphony Orchestra. He was a founding member of the new music group Cadillac Moon Ensemble and a freelance violinist for 16 years in New York and London. Jeffrey has performed with ensembles worldwide including the English National Ballet, Artemis Chamber Ensemble, London Children’s Ballet, Scandinavian Chamber Orchestra of New York, Sequenza21, Mimesis Ensemble, American Opera Projects, and flutist Paula Robison at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. He also was part of a touring ensemble that performed Arctic Magic Flute with Martin Woods (Inupiaq) under the direction of William Todd Hunt in the Alaskan Arctic.

Jeffrey holds a BM from St. Olaf College, an MM from SUNY Purchase, and he apprenticed with the Manhattan String Quartet (MSQ) for two years. He studied violin with Laurie Smukler, Calvin Wiersma, Eric Lewis, and Andrea Een. He studied chamber music with the MSQ and members of the Mendelssohn String Quartet, Beaux Arts Trio, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Met Opera Orchestra.

Jeffrey is the co-founder of BLCMS with Roger Hatteberg. He plays on a Gaetano Chiocchi violin ca. 1860.
