23 & 25
withonevoice is a non-profit professional vocal ensemble of sixteen singers based in
Chicago, Illinois with a week-long residency program at Western Illinois University in
Macomb. The ensemble is comprised of professional musicians and teachers from IL,
IA, NY, WI, and PA with a vision to provide performances, educational experiences, and
workshops that promote and model vocal versatility and exploration. Each concert
features diverse voice qualities and commissioned works that represent a wide array of
composers and styles of music. withonevoice strongly believes in “access to the arts for
all” and leads annual educational workshops, using the Estill Voice model, across the
US to help everyone find their voice.
The fourth season residency takes place July 20-23 on the Macomb campus and
rehearsals are open to the public. “We are excited to bring our artists, many of which
are WIU faculty and alumni, back to Macomb for our fourth season. The Macomb and
WIU communities continue to give us a warm welcome each year and donate
generously to our mission of giving free public performances in rural communities,” said
Dr. Brian J. Winnie, director of choral studies at WIU and artistic director and founder of
withonevoice. “We are also in year two of our three-year recording and commissioning
project toward our first album release in 2028.”
The ensemble will present its summer season concert, Hold Fast, on July 23 in the
COFAC Recital Hall at WIU at 7:30 PM and again on July 25 at the Baker Memorial
United Methodist Church in St. Charles, IL at 7:30 PM. These performances will feature
multiple world premieres by Illinois composers Alex Berko and Ryan Korell and Arizona
composer MaryAnne Muglia. Bring a friend and join us to experience the wovoice
family!
The performances are FREE with RSVP Ticket reservations and a suggested donation.
