Galesburg Community Chorus Performs “Carmina Burana” at its Annual Charles J. and Mary Runyon Gibbs Spring Concert

Galesburg Community Chorus Performs “Carmina Burana” at its Annual Charles J. and Mary Runyon Gibbs Spring Concert

The Galesburg Community Chorus’ annual spring concert, featuring Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, will take place on Saturday, April 27th. This extensive choral work is one of the most well-loved and exciting scenic oratorios of the 20th century, with powerful music, driving rhythms, and strong characterization of its colorful text.

The work will be performed in its chamber orchestration for two pianos and percussion and will include three soloists, soprano Sarah Kropski from Chicago, countertenor Jake Johansen from Galesburg, and baritone Nicholas Ward, from Chicago.

Chorus Director Tim Pahel says “we are so excited to be performing Carmina Burana again! The music is so fun and full of life and energy. And our membership went from 40 to 60 singers this semester because we are doing this work! We know that the concert is going to be thrilling.”
