The McDonough Choral Society announces its Winter 2025 concert, “I Will Light Candles This Christmas,” under the baton of its new Music Director, Dr. John Orfe. The program will feature seasonal and Christmas anthems by Gabriel Fauré, Mack Wilberg, Rosephayne Powell, Kim Andre Arnesen, Chris de Silva, and Roland Carter. Its centerpiece will be Lauda per la Natività del Signore, by Ottorino Respighi. Vocal soloists Dr. Courtney Huffman Frye, Dr. Miracle Amah, and Guido Rochín will sing the roles of the Angel, Mary, and Shepherd, respectively. The MCS and soloists will be joined by an ensemble of Western Illinois University music faculty and students, all accompanied by pianist and organist Gayle Cooper.
