Keokuk Juneteenth Celebration
The Keokuk Juneteenth Celebration will take place June 17-20 with four days of events honoring culture, history, and community.
Festivities begin Wednesday, June 17, with the annual Juneteenth Concert at First Christian Church at 6 p.m., featuring a variety of local artists.
On Thursday, June 18, storyteller Angela Williams will present at the Keokuk Public Library at 11 a.m., followed by the Juneteenth Parade at 6 p.m. The parade will travel from the mall to Dr. Getwell’s and feature the Waterloo Drill Team, who will perform at the conclusion of the parade. Community members are encouraged to enjoy dinner at Dr. Getwell’s following the event.
Friday, June 19, includes “Cooking with Brenda” at the Keokuk Public Library at 11 a.m. and the Juneteenth Soul Food Dinner on Friday evening. Tickets are $25 and include authentic soul food and live music by Double Trouble. Dinner will be served from 5:30-7:30 p.m., with music continuing through 9:30 p.m.
Saturday, June 20, begins with the Juneteenth 5K at Rand Park at 8 a.m., followed by a free Kids Fishing Derby from 9-10:30 a.m. at the Rand Park Pond. This year’s all-day Juneteenth celebration will take place at Keosippi Center in Keokuk, offering a cooler and more accessible location. From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., attendees can enjoy free kids' activities, games, face painting, science and optical illusion stations, vendors, food, raffles, and live DJ entertainment. The celebration concludes with an evening concert at the Rand Park Pavilion from 6:30-9 p.m., featuring the Matt Roberts Band.
