The Riverside will bring its warm, engaging blend of folk music, rich harmonies and intimate storytelling to Ca d’Zan House Concerts in Cambridge on Tuesday, September 15. Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, the all-ages concert will begin at 7 p.m., following an optional community potluck dinner at 6 p.m. Bishop Hill Creative Commons will serve as the rain location.

The Riverside originated in Southern California in 2012, when founding member Jacob Jeanson formed the group while attending Westmont College. The band first came together with the goal of entering Santa Barbara’s battle of the bands. Their energetic, foot-stomping folk sound won the competition and provided the funding to record their first album.

In the years since, Jeanson has continued developing a thoughtful songwriting style marked by warmth, nostalgia and a sense of open-road adventure. Along the way, he was joined by longtime friends and bandmates Kristen Posey and Chase Fierro, whose musicianship and chemistry helped shape The Riverside into the trio it is today.

The band has toured theaters, venues and festivals throughout the United States, but has found a special connection with audiences through intimate house concerts in backyards and living rooms. That setting is a natural fit for The Riverside’s organic style, which often finds the musicians gathered around a single old-fashioned microphone, blending voices and instruments into a seamless and inviting sound.

The group also frequently collaborates with musical friends while on tour, allowing each performance to take on a unique character depending on the location, lineup and atmosphere of the evening. Their goal is to create something that feels personal, spontaneous and genuinely connected to the audience.

Since forming, The Riverside has released eight independently produced albums along with multiple EPs, with additional music continuing to take shape.

Guests are invited to arrive at 6 p.m. for the optional potluck dinner and may bring a dish to share. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Attendees should bring lawn chairs or blankets for seating. A donation of $20 to $30 is suggested, and music lovers of all ages are welcome.

In the event of rain, the concert will move to Bishop Hill Creative Commons.

Presented by Crossroads Cultural Connections, this concert continues the organization’s mission of bringing meaningful, high-quality live music experiences to Henry County and surrounding communities.
