The Macomb High School Marching Bomber Band will hold its annual March-a-thon on Saturday, August 29, from 9:30am to 12:00pm. Members of the drumline and color guard will perform short marching demonstrations in three Macomb neighborhoods: south of Edison School, Meadowbrook, and Georgetown.
Band members, joined by parent volunteers, will go door-to-door collecting donations during the performances. The neighborhood with the highest donation total will receive a special parade performance by the full Marching Bomber Band and color guard on Saturday, September 12, at 3:30pm. Proceeds will help purchase much needed beginner band instruments.
Residents in participating neighborhoods may leave donations in an envelope taped on their front door for pickup on August 29. Donations can also be mailed to Macomb Band Boosters, PO Box 816, or made online at https://square.link/u/aoX2t3Nz. Please note which neighborhood you are supporting.
On September 12th, following the neighborhood parade, the band will present a free concert at 4:45pm in front of Macomb City Hall, as a thank-you for the community’s continued support.
Join us on August 28-30, 2026 for Peoria Irish Fest! The last weekend in August every year, the St. Patrick Society of Peoria partners with the Peoria Park District to host the Peoria Irish Fest on the Peoria Riverfront. Over the years, Peoria Irish Fest (Erin Feis) has grown from a Sunday afternoon picnic to a 3-Day Irish Festival. Although the venue has changed and the scope of activities and entertainment has grown exponentially since that first picnic, we still provide a time and place for friends and families to join together and share their interest in Irish traditions.
The first day of Peoria Irish Fest is called “The Gathering,” the second is “The Day,” and the last is “The Scattering.” During the three days of the event, attendees can enjoy a variety of musicians from around Peoria, the country, or the world, playing both traditional and more modern Irish music; Irish dancers from a variety of Irish Dance Schools; and learn more about Irish traditions in our Cultural Village. Also featured during the festival is the Ancient Athletic sporting competition, featuring the Sheaf Toss, Caber Toss, Stone Put, Hammer Throw, Braemar Stone/Open Stone—heavyweight for distance and lightweight for distance.
