Join us for a morning or afternoon of paddling and enjoying nature on beautiful Lake Argyle. Kayaks, paddles, and life jackets are being provided by the Friends of Argyle. Ten adult kayaks and 2 youth kayaks (for ages 5+) are available, so space is limited to the first 12 people to register for each tour. Two times are being offered each day, and each outing will be about 2 hours. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Meet at the parking area near the dam/spillway for this program.

Save the date for the 12th Annual Monarch Migration Festival on Saturday, September 12, 2026! Celebrate all things Monarch butterfly with education stations, vendors, activities, and informational presentations. This is a free event and open to all ages!

Mark Twain Casino will host its eighth annual car show on Sept. 12, bringing together classic cars and automotive enthusiasts for a day of competition and live music.

The show will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with vehicle registration from 10 a.m. to noon. Competition will be divided into six classes, each with its own Best of Class award, along with a Fan Favorite Award voted on by attendees. Car clubs can also compete for a Most Car Club Participants award; the winning club will receive a trophy along with a donation to a charitable organization of its choice.

Live music will follow the vehicle displays, with the Mugshot Bandits performing from noon to 3 p.m. The awards ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m.

South Hill Annual Block Party is bringing the neighborhood together for a day of FREE fun, food and activities! Enjoy music and line dancing with DJ Troy Brown, a performance by The Royal Steps, a bounce house, art projects, face painting, nail painting, and temporary hair color. Kids can pick out a FREE book at the Maple Leaf Center, while community organizations will have information tables and while you're there, REGISTER to VOTE! Enjoy hot dogs served by the Burlington Police Department, plus pizza, popcorn, mini muffins, snow cones, cotton candy and more! It's FREE so bring your lawn chair and come enjoy a fun day with your South Hill neighbors!

See all makes and models of vehicles from antique to modern at the David Davis Mansion at the annual Cruise-In, co-sponsored by the David Davis Mansion Foundation and the Mid-State Cruisers!

Best In Class trophies will be awarded for a variety of categories, including: Street Rod, Muscle Car, and Truck.

The David Davis Mansion and Sarah’s Garden will be open for walk-through tours. Docents and Master Gardeners will be available for questions.

There is no entry fee for vehicle participants.

A donation of $5 cash only per adult is suggested. Children are free.

This deeply moving and powerful lecture-recital delves into the extraordinary and often haunting role of music during the Holocaust, examining repertoire banned by the SS Kulturkammer and what type of music was performed in the camps and ghettos. Through the heartbreaking stories of Jewish composers whose lives were extinguished by the Nazi regime, Dr. Beard exposes how the Nazis twisted music into a weapon of psychological cruelty, even as prisoners reclaimed it as a lifeline. In the darkest of circumstances, music became a fragile sanctuary: an act of courage, identity, and resistance against a world intent on erasing them.

Spend an afternoon making fun arts and crafts at the Museum!  A variety of supplies and materials will be available for kids to create pieces of their liking to take home.  All ages are welcome with adult supervision. 
This program is held on the second Saturday of each month from 2:00-3:30 p.m.  Admission is free, and registration is not required.
