Macomb Woman Chosen to Fill Judicial Vacancy

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Emily Sutton to serve as a circuit court judge.  Sutton has worked as a private attorney since 2008. 

She will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Paul Mangieri, who stepped down July 3.

Five other attorneys applied for the position.

Sutton will serve as an At Large Circuit Judge in the Ninth District, which Includes Fulton, Hancock, Henderson, Knox, McDonough, and Warren counties.

The appointment takes effect August 12.  The position will come up for election in November 2020.

Sutton already serves in an elected position. Voters in April of this year chose her for a seat on the Macomb School Board.
