Trio of Covid-19 outbreaks in McDonough County

The McDonough County Health Department is reporting Covid-19 outbreaks at two schools and an assisted living facility.

One outbreak is at Edison Elementary School in Macomb, where there are five confirmed cases and several other people experiencing symptoms.

There is also an outbreak at Bushnell-Prairie City Elementary School, which has three confirmed cases along with other people reporting symptoms.

The other outbreak is at the Lamoine Assisted Living Facility in Macomb, which has five confirmed cases and tests results pending for others.

The health department said it is working with the school districts and the staff and administration at the Lamoine to manage the outbreaks.

The Illinois Department of Public Health defines an outbreak at a congregate setting as two or more lab-confirmed cases plus cases of others who are ill with symptoms.

The county health department is reporting nine new cases of the virus in the past 24 hours:

  • 1 new case aged 0-9
  • 1 new case aged 10-19
  • 2 new cases aged 20-29
  • 1 new case aged 30-39
  • 3 new cases aged 40-49
  • 1 new case aged 60-69

The county has 44 active cases of the virus.
There have been 3,617 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in McDonough County since the pandemic began. The virus is blamed for 69 deaths in the county.
