Ribbon-cutting for improvements to Keokuk’s Calvert Stadium
The Keokuk Community School District will host a ribbon cutting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 for more than $3 million in improvements to Calvert Stadium.
The need for renovations was identified as a priority in a survey of the community last year.
The first phase of the project includes installation of a turf field and replacement of the existing track. Those renovations will be completed this month.
The district approved using school infrastructure sales, services, and use tax revenues not to exceed $4 million for the projects. The funds are in the State Secure an Advanced Vision for Education (SAVE) Fund and distributed to the district per Iowa state statute.
The district is expected to begin discussing a second phase of renovations to the stadium this fall.
