Police remained on the scene on Saturday morning, 24 hours after the incident began.

McDonough County Coroner Eric Jameson said the man involved in a standoff with police late last week died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Curtis J. Miller, 66, died at 4:55 p.m. on Friday, May 8 in his home in the 400 block of Monmouth St. in Good Hope.

The McDonough County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home Friday morning. Deputies encountered a woman with severe injuries who had left the home.

Miller had barricaded himself inside the house and set it on fire.

The standoff led police to close down Route 67 through Good Hope for much of the day on Friday.

Illinois State Police say the investigation into the case is active and ongoing.
