The Spoon River College Board of Trustees is moving quickly in its search for the college’s next president.
The board announced it has chosen three finalists:
- Mark Dunneback, Associate Vice President of Workforce & Community Innovation at Kalamazoo Valley Community College in Kalamazoo County, Mich.
- Laura Ortiz, Provost and Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at Finger Lakes Community College in Canandaigua, N.Y.
- Shelley Barkley, Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Ill.
The candidates will be in west central Illinois during the coming weeks for interviews and meetings with the board, faculty, staff, students, and the community.
The schedule for the public meetings with community members is:
- Mark Dunneback: Tuesday, June 16, 10:45 a.m. — 11:15 a.m. at the Macomb Outreach Center, 2:00 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. at the Canton Conference Center
- Laura Ortiz: Monday, June 22, 10:45 a.m. — 11:15 a.m. at the Macomb Outreach Center, 2:00 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. at the Canton Conference Center
- Shelley Barkley: Tuesday, June 23, 10:45 a.m. — 11:15 a.m. at the Macomb Outreach Center, 2:00 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. at the Canton Conference Center
The board expects to name the new president late this month.
The person chosen will replace Curt Oldfield. He spent 14 years as SRC’s president, but is leaving to become president of Lincoln Land Community College in Springfield, beginning July 1.
