Taste of Galesburg to mark 40th anniversary with record number of restaurants

Taste of Galesburg

On the third Thursday of July every year, the air in downtown Galesburg is filled with the aromas of sizzling barbecue, crispy tacos, fresh kettle corn, and more.

2026 marks the 40th anniversary for Taste of Galesburg, an annual event bringing people together to sample different local treats.

This year’s event is from 4 to 10 p.m. July 16 on Simmons Street.

Event coordinator Kraig Boynton said there will be 28 restaurants participating this year, which is the largest number ever. He said there are typically around 18 to 20 restaurants.

“You will have anywhere from The Landmark's famous crepes to different forms of barbecue and brisket from Henn House or Smokin' Willies. The Packinghouse will be there," Boynton said. "Acai with Me will be there this year, so they will be new."

There’s a $5 entrance fee at the gate and a token system for buying food, with each token costing $1.

“The participating restaurants will have pricing at their location based on what they feel they should be charging for the items,” Boynton said.

Boynton noted the event is cash only, and there will be no ATM inside the gates.

For the 40th anniversary, organizers have not only expanded food options but also activities. The kids’ area will have bounce houses in addition to face painting this year.

There will be music on three stages. Neon Nova will play from 4 to 6:30 p.m, the Pippi & Daniel Music Experience will play from 4:30 to 10 p.m, and The Rhinestoners will play from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

“I think our music selection is a bit more elevated this year,” Boynton said.
